SSCB#59 Leave It Bare - Lilacs

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  The first of the month is a very busy day here!  Lots of new challenges for you - and thank goodness lots of time for you to play along!   It's a holiday weekend so I hope you find a little crafty time to play.  The latest challenge at Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog is "Leave it Bare".  I think lots of us are intimidated by the detailed images you will find at Serendipity Stamps.   Especially those of us who didn't take a Copic coloring class! LOL!  (Yes that includes me!)

That means that there are no excuses for not playing along with this time. There's lots of other ways to add color, and seriously, I think a detailed stamp looks amazing left just "as is".  Let the image do all the talking!!
I inked up this detailed lilac stamp with Ranger Seedless Preserves Ink.  I spritzed it with water and then stamped it on Canson XL Watercolor paper.   When it was dry I mixed a little more ink with water and splashed it over the design.
It looked a little "flat" to me - yes even with all that color!  To add a little "umph" I die cut the Hello word die into the design.  I stacked 3 die cut to add dimension.  You can see it better here.

That's better right?   Now to embellish my layout.. I added a stitched border from Pretty Pink Posh along the left edge.  Did you know Serendipity Stamps has these in stock in the store?   They're a great compliment to Mary's images.

I wrapped some Twinery Natural Twine around the cover of the card and added a sprinkle of wood veneer sequins (also available at Serendipity).

I hope you have time to play - you can link up your designs here at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog. Have a great weekend!

Pretty Pink Posh - Butterfly Sky

Happy news to share again today!  I've been asked to stay on the Pretty Pink Posh Design Team!  Our term is only 4 months - so by the time I got in the swing of things I was thinking it would be time for me to go.  Lucky me though!  I get to stay!!

Paulina's having a matching game to announce the new Design Team.  She made this collage with a sample from each of the designers who will be on for the next term (September - December).  I'm not allowed to tell you who they are - you're supposed to guess and Paulina will announce them here on her blog. Can you guess which one is mine?

It's a pleasure working with Paulina's beautiful stitched dies and colorful sequins.  They both compliment your favorite stamp lines perfectly!  If you haven't checked out the store you need to see the new stamps Paulina's designed like these pretty butterflies from the Blissful Butterflies set.  This set is a mini - only 2 x 3" - but it has so many great little stamps that are so versatile!
I created a cloudy sky for my butteflies using the Scallop Borders as a mask.  The frilly clouds are soft and feminine.
I topped the cloudy background with the Scalloped Ovals.  I stuck with the "power of 3" and added three colorful butterflies.
The die cut "hello" sentiment is on a Stitched Label One die - I love how the dies are coordinated with the stitching detail.
A sprinkle of Sparkling Clear Sequins is the perfect finishing touch for ANY design!  Love Love Love that SHINE!
Time to find out if you guessed correctly!  I tried to give you a hint with my project today!  Did you guess M?  If you did then YOU ARE CORRECT!!! LOL!  I wonder how many you'll get right!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

12 Kits of Occasions August

It's the last day of the month.. do you know what that means?  It's time for the 12 Kits of Occasions.  If you're not familiar with us - we're a group of 12 friends who love to paper craft and make cards.  Every month we take turns making a kit for the rest of the group.  We all receive the same kit with the same items.  On the last day of the month we reveal what we made with the kit.  It's fun to see how are designs are similar (great minds think alike) or very different.

For me these kits represent lots of things.. Each one is a reflection of the creator.   It gives me a chance to see through the eyes of a friend. I've been introduced to lots of new products this way - things I never would have found on my own.   It also challenges me to work with products I might not choose to work with.  We all have different tastes, styles, color and product preferences.
Most of all it's the sense of camaraderie I feel with the others in this group.  We have our love of crafting in common.  That opens the door to our hearts and makes us thick as thieves.

Our hostess with the mostest this month is Lisa Elton. You can find Lisa on her blog My Paper Tales. Lisa is also the creator of the Sweet Pea Stamp Set at the Precious Remembrance Shop.

Here's a peek at the beautiful kit she sent us.  It had loads of GOLD - gold foil, gold glitter, gold twine ..   vellum papers.. rich heavy embossed papers.. die cut words, die cut frames and tags from Pretty Pink Posh, doilies and the prettiest embroidered ribbon you ever saw!   Stamped images included Lisa's beautiful Sweet Pea set, and the cute girls from My Favorite Things.  There were even felt cut flowers ready to roll and some of the Pretty Pink Posh Sweet Pea sequin mix created to coordinate with Lisa's Stamp Set.

You can get a complete list of all the supplies here on the 12 Kits of Occasions Blog.   AND if you leave a comment there this time you will have a chance to play along with us next month - the theme is THIS IS HALLOWEEN.

Here's what I came up with - 4 cards and a gift box.  Lisa included the die cut box - all I had to do was dress it up!
Want to see what the rest of the team made with this beautiful kit?  Just click on their names below or hop on over to the 12 Kits of Occasions Blog where you can see a sample from each designer.  While you're there don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to play along with us next month!

Pawsitively Perfect!!

Thanks for stopping by! We're sharing a little Puppy Love at The Twinery over the next few days and I've got a sweet little card to share! I love incorporating twine into my projects as a way to add color and texture. This one has lots of different colors - a treat for your eyes!
I started by stamping a tag with a punny sentiment and some cute little paw prints. Next I got out my ruler and drew a pencil dot ever 1/4" to help me punch holes in a nice straight row down the side of the tag.

Now the fun part... attaching lengths of colorful twine along the edge of the card. There's so many colors to choose from.. why pick only one?

I didn't want to distract from the bright twine colors, so I threaded the tag with charcoal twine and colored my puppies in neutral shades (Copic W's).
Aren't these little guys the sweetest?
